Indo American Seafood Cares: Planting 1,000 Mangrove Trees to Preserve Coastal Ecosystems

As a pioneer in the seafood processing industry, PT Indo American Seafood recognizes that business sustainability heavily relies on the preservation of marine ecosystems. Therefore, through its annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, the company reaffirms its commitment to the environment by organizing the "Planting 1,000 Mangrove Trees" initiative in coastal areas.

Protecting the Coastline and Maintaining Biodiversity

The activity, which involved dozens of company employees, local fishing communities, and environmental activists, focused on the restoration of critical coastal lands. This mangrove planting carries two main missions:

  • Preventing Coastal Erosion: The mangrove green belt acts as a natural protector of coastal land from the threat of large waves and increasing sea abrasion caused by climate change.
  • Breeding Grounds for Marine Life: A healthy mangrove ecosystem is an essential habitat and natural spawning ground for various types of fish, crabs, and shrimp, which will ultimately support the catches of local fishermen.

Synergy with the Local Community

The President Director of PT Indo American Seafood emphasized that environmental initiatives must go hand in hand with economic empowerment. "We do not just plant; we also educate and involve coastal communities to care for these mangrove seedlings. The sustainability of the ocean is the lifeblood of our industry and a better future for the next generation," he stated.

Through this tangible step, Indo American Seafood hopes to continue being part of the climate change solution while safeguarding food security from Indonesia's maritime sector for the world.
